Timeline
Oct 2021 - Dec 2022
The Brief:
The client encountered a last minute change to the project planning with regards to the decommission strategy for redundant FF+E in this 174 guestroom hotel. BGES were offered a very short three day planning and mobilisation period before works were to begin. All FF+E was to be removed from guestrooms in one phase of work. The client requested the implementation of reuse strategy for all redundant FF+E.
The Outcome:
174 guestrooms decommissioned during a 6 week window to allow the main contractor to begin the remodelling/renovation schedule. BGES would work to a program of remove to reuse. Approx. 3100 individual pieces of FF+E were removed from site.
CSR & Sustainability
During asset decommission works, BGES adhered to circular strategies for resource reuse created and managed by sustainability partners - Recreate Scotland. The Grosvenor hotel and associated project management at ChandlerKBS are Recreate Certified organisations having made the commitment to reduce their carbon footprint during periods of resource decommission/renovation.
Zero skips were utilised for loose FF+E during the decommission program and an impressive reuse rate of 72% was achieved for all redundant FF+E. Read more about their sustainability credentials here.
