FF+E Decommission
Timeline
Jan 2021 - June 2021

The Brief:
BGES were commissioned by The Lowry Hotel and the nominated main contractor to complete the decommission of FF+E during their 200 guestroom renovation programme. The client was keen to implement a circular reuse strategy for all redundant resources. The works would be undertaken on a live site and would require BGES to manage the decommission of all FF+E from the guestrooms, working to a programme of resource reuse for the client on a zero skip and minimal recycling guarantee.
The Outcome:
Following a complete strip-out of FF+E involving artwork, cabinet furniture, beds, lighting, soft furnishings and upholstery, BGES successfully implemented a redistribution program to fulfil the resource reuse commitments expected by the client. 200 guestrooms were stripped back to their shell allowing the main contractor to complete the program of renovation. 1200+ pieces of FF+E were removed for redistribution.

CSR & Sustainability
During asset decommission works, BGES adhere to circular strategies for resource reuse created and managed by sustainability partners - Recreate Scotland. The lowry Hotel is a Recreate Certified organisation having made the commitment to reduce their carbon footprint during periods of renovation.
Zero skips were utilised during the FF+E decommission program and an impressive reuse rate of 93% was achieved for all redundant FF+E. Read more about their sustainability credentials here.
